Lent is a 7-week journey of remembering our need for a Savior, a need met only in Jesus Christ.
This Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season in which we focus on redemption and restoration. As we have done during the season of Advent, we will once again use the resources provided by She Reads Truth and He Reads Truth to remember the cross that was borne for us, the blood that was shed for us, and the new life that awaits us in Christ.
The Reads Truth community will be studying the book of Isaiah for the first six weeks of Lent and finishing with the events of Holy Week on the seventh week. Daily scripture readings are accompanied by short commentaries as well as scripture memorization. Why the book of Isaiah?
“The Book of Isaiah provides us with the most comprehensive prophetic picture of Jesus Christ in the entire Old Testament. It includes the full scope of His life: the announcement of His coming (Isaiah 40:3-5), His virgin birth (7:14), His proclamation of the good news (61:1), His sacrificial death (52:13-53:12), and His return to claim His own (60:2-3). Because of these and numerous other christological texts in Isaiah, the book stands as a testament of hope in the Lord, the One who saves His people from themselves.” -Charles Swindoll
